The Wooly
Mammoth

Woolly Mammoths,
scientific name Mammuthus Primigenius,
lived from about 2 million years ago to 10,000 years ago, during the last
ice age: the Pleistocene Epoch. This was millions of years after
the dinosaurs went extinct. These mammoths lived in the tundras of Asia,
Europe, and North America. They are closely related to modern-day Indian
elephants.
These magnificent animals ranged in size from about 9 ft tall to over 15
ft tall. Some species had tusks that were straight, whereas some had tusks
that were curved. The longest tusks were over 15 feet long. Mammoths used
their tusks
in mating rituals, for protection, and for digging in the snow
for food.
Here is a chance for
you to own a part of our planet's ancient history. You can actually
purchase a genuine mammoth tusk or an intricately carved piece of mammoth ivory.
These items are unique and found rarely in these large sizes, especially of
the quality presented here.
As this specie is
extinct, there is no ban on international trade of mammoth tusks or items
made with mammoth ivory. If you have any questions about the
individual mammoth tusks or mammoth ivory pieces, please contact
customer service. |
